Railroad protection
Raycap has recently developed an innovative product for the overvoltage protection in railway networks. Railways’ Voltage Limiter (RVL) is designed for overvoltage protection of personnel and equipment in dc rail traction systems. In case of overvoltages, RVL generates a durable conductive path between the overloaded area and the substation.
Increased current loads are sensed at the substation, tripping the safety disconnect and, thus, protecting personnel and equipment. RVL has been already installed by Infrabel in the Belgian railway network.
